So sad! No more Utah trip for us!

         So, my last little hope of going to Utah just vanished tonight and I am so sad. Here is the scoop. For the past 2 months there has been a dilemma if I was going to Brazil to visit my family or not. So on and off we would make the plans and it would fall through. Because of that we couldn't make plans to go to Utah like we wanted to. Well, last week the plans for Brazil were finally finalized. We got so excited because we could make the plans to go to Utah during James' break and even better, use our vouchers and fly for free (before Emma turns 2!). 

         The day before that (Wednesday) we checked the prices and we were only going to have to pay $40 in taxes for both of us to go! Great deal, not so big of a problem. Then, the next day (Thursday), when we were going to purchase our tickets they went up! We couldn't believe it. So we said, ok forget it, we can't pay for that. But we wanted to go so bad, we started to come up with ideas to come up with the $$$. A miracle happened, and on Sunday James receives an email from a student at his school asking for help with translation during their board exam with a patient and offered to pay for the help! Yeah! Now we had the money to go to Utah. 

         When today was all finalized that James is for sure going to "work" for this girl, I was on the web site purchasing our tickets and some really sad happened and I still can't believe it! I had chosen our flights, our seats, put our names and credit card information, and when I clicked purchase there was a dumb message that said: "We are sorry, but the flight you have selected has just sold out! Please select another flight". What?! What do you mean was sold out, was my first thought! There was enough seats. There is no way that some one could have bought 20+ seats for the same destination in the past 2 minutes!

         Well, ok, so here I go searching for a different flight and guess what?! The prices had gone up. Ridiculously more! More than we can dream to afford!

         I guess we are not supposed to go! It's ok, we are not going!

        So here is our sad story of the day. And as I writte I mourn! I miss our families so much! I hope to see them soon!

New York, New York and Ashley's visit

This was the craziest thing we have done so far, I think! And here is why! It was James spring brake, Ashley was coming to visit and since she had been to D.C. before we wanted to do different things with her so we thought....."what the heck, lets go to New York, it's only four hours away!" Except that we went there and came back on the same day! Poor James had to drive the whole time. We were all dead tired because we walked all day long. But I have to say that it was so worth it! We had so much fun! Here are some of the things we got to see.

Eu acho que isso foi a coisa mais doida que ja fizemos! E aqui vai o porque! Era semana de saco cheio do James (entao ele nao tinha aula), a Ashley estava vindo nos visitar, e ja que ela ja tinha vindo pra D.C. antes, queriamos mostrar coisas diferentes para ela, entao pensamos........"mais que coisa, vamos para Nove York ja que so sao quatro horas de viajem!" Mas o problema foi que fomos e voltamos no mesmo dia! O coitado do James teve que dirigir o tempo tempo. Estavamos todos mortos de cansados porque andamos o dia todo. Mas tenho que dizer que valeu muito apena. Nos divertimos muito! Aqui vai algumas coisas que vimos.
Asheley by the Statue of Liberty. That is the closest we saw it since we didn't have time to stand in line for 3 hours to see it closer. Oh well, there is always next time!

Ashley perto da Estatua da Liberdade. Isso foi o mais proximo que conseguimos ver, desde que nao tinhos tempo pra ficar na fila por 3 horas para ve-la de mais perto. Bem, sempre tem a proxima vez!
The high risers that we don't have in Utah, or D.C. Yes, I said D.C. ! Believe or not! But I guess no buildings can be taller than the Washington Monument.

Os predios altos que nao temos nem em Utah e nem em D.C.  Sim, eu disse D.C.! Acredite se quiser! Mas eu acho que e porque nemhum predio pode ser mais alto do que o Monumento de Washington.

At the Wall Street! Ashley got very excited and emotional about it! She can't wait to go to work there. She is crazy! Some day Ash, some day!

Na rua Wall Street! A Ashely ficou muito anciosa e emocionada! Ela mal pode esperar para ir trabalhar la. Ela e doida!  Um dia Ash, um dia!

This is at China Town. Now, I have a funny story to tell about that! The background information is that Ashley loves purses. So she wasn't contented with the two purses she had already bought that day in New York. When some guy in the street asked if she wanted Prada purses, she went crazy! Off course she said yes. But since this was, I believe, an illegal sale, he told her she had to follow him. Then he asked if I wanted to see them and I said sure, why not! So here we follow this guy and for our surprise he had her go inside this van parked on the street that had all these black windows. So we couldn't see a thing that was going on inside. After she entered the van and this guy closed the door, James and I looked at each other and said, this is crazy. What if this guy does something to her?! We got very worried. But my innocent husband was convinced that since she gave her purse for James to hold that the guy wouldn't do anything to her because she didn't have her purse. And I as a girl was worried about something else, not about being robbed! But anyways, James said : "Lets watch the van because if it moves that means she is trying to react to something." But in my mind I was, ya right, not if he has a gun! All of a sudden the van started moving and James and I fricked out. So I nocked at the window and the guy opened the door and with this thick accent (thicker than mine) said to me: "You wait your turn!" Ya right, I was not going inside that van!  As soon as she walked out me bursted into laugh.  Ashley reported to us that he had electrical tape all over his windows to make it black and all the purses were hanging in the walls of the van.  When she asked the price and he said fourty dollars she told him she was not paying forty dollars for a purse inside of a van! So he said: " Get out!"   

Although it was scary at the time, we make fun of it now!

                               

At Times Square! It was awesome to be there and get to see New York! Overall, New York reminded me a lot of Sao Paulo, Brazil. 

No Times Square! Foi muito bom estar la e poder ver Nova Yorke! Contudo, Nova Yorke me lembrou muito de Sao Paulo.

A cute picture of titia Ashley and Emma at Great Falls, Virginia! We had so much fun with Ashley here and enjoyed a lot having her over! We already miss her a lot! But its ok, she is coming back this summer! I guess we didn't scare her too bad! We love you Ash!

Annapolis, MD

Two weeks ago James and I got bored and decided to explore Maryland. We drove to Annapolis and had a great time there. It is beautiful there and I can't image how fun it will be to go there in the summer.





Duas semanas atras eu e o James ficamos atediados e decidimos explorar Maryland. Dirigimos ate Annapolis e passamos uma otima tarde la. E muito lindo e nem posso imaginar quao divertido deve ser durante o verao.

I thought it would be cute to post these because the little baby in the orange dress is my Emma and the cute little girl holding her is also Emma. The other day my friend let my Emma hold her cute little baby Emma so I remembered the picture we took of Emma holding Emma! My Emma was so excited to hold the baby since she LOVES babies! All these Emmas are too cute!

Eu achei que seria uma graca colocar essas fotos porque a bebezinha de vestido alaranjado e minha Emma e a linda menina segurando minha Emma tambem e Emma. Outro dia minha amiga deixou minha Emma segurar a linda bebezinha dela tambem chamada Emma, e me lembrei da foto da Emma segurando a Emma! Minha Emma ficou toda feliz de segurar o bebe desde que ela AMA bebes! Todas essas Emma sao lindas demais!

Yummy raisins!

The other day I was vacuuming the house and Emma got really quiet all of a sudden.I knew she was up to something! Where did I find Emma?!For my surprise I found her sitting in her little table eating her favorite thing, raisins. It was really cute! I was surprised because she got the raisins box by herself from a shelf that is a little high (she probably had to get in her tippy toes). Than she was just sitting there with the whole box of raisins to herself, just chilling! Her dream come true! I had to get a picture of her cute face eating her raisins!

Outro dia eu estava passando aspirador na casa e derrepente a Emma ficou muito quietinha! Eu sabia que ela estava aprontando alguma coisa! Onde eu achei a Emma? Para minha surpresa achei ela sentadinha em sua mesinha comendo sua coisa preferida, uva passa. Foi uma gracinha! Eu fiquei surpresa porque ela pegou a caixa de passas sozinha de uma estante que e bem altinha (ela provavelmente teve que ficar na ponta do pe). E ai ela esta la sentada com a caixa inteira de passas so pra ela, so la comendo bem tranquila! Foi o sonho dela realizado! Eu tive que tirar uma foto da carinha linda dela comendo uva passas!

We finally have snow!

We finally got snow today and it sticked! We were starting to think we were not going to have any snow this winter. Plus we wanted snow since we heard that every time it snows here in Maryland/DC they cancel the schools! But unfortunately James' school didn't get canceled! We are hoping for tomorrow!
Emma played in the snow for the first time. When I opened the door for us to go outside, she saw the snow and said:"Wow!". She stared at it for a while then walked on it very cautiously and got very proud of herself and started clapping. She even got a taste of the snow but didn't enjoy very much how cold it felt in her hands. We had a lot of fun and I am glad we got some snow!

Fnalmente nevou aqui e nao derreteu! Estavamos comecando a pensar que nao iria nevar esse inverno. Queriamos muito que nevasse porque ouvimos falar que toda vez que neva aqui em Maryland/DC eles cancelam as escolas, mas infelizmente eles nao cancelaram a escola do James hoje! Estamos esperando que amanha eles irao cancelar!
A Emma brincou na neva pela primeira vez. Quando abri a porta para irmos la fora, ela viu a neve e disse:"Wow!". Ela ficou so olhando por um pouco e depois comecou a andar na neve cuidadosamente. Ficou toda orgulhosa de si mesma e comecou a bater palmas. Ela ate teve um gostinho da neve mas nao gostou muito que a neve estava muito gelada em suas maos. Nos divertimos muito e sou grata que nevou!

Way to go Emma!

It has been a week yesterday that Emma has been eating all her meals all by herself! Way to go! The best of all is that she doesn't make a mess. I hope she is not Obsessive Compulsive like me!

Fez uma semana ontem que a Emma tem comido todas as refeicoes sozinha. Que linda! Muito bem Emma! O melhor e que ela nao faz sujeira, nem bagunca. Espero que ela nao seja Obsessiva Compulsiva como eu!

Bad hair day!

We love this picture of Emma! I did her hair all cute one day and this is the look when we undid her hair. James said that he will show this picture to her boyfriend when she is older and that it will have to be in her wedding video.

Adoramos essa foto da Emma. Eu fiz o cabelo dela todo bonitinho um dia e esse e o look dela depois que desmanchamos o cabelo dela. O James disse que ele vai mostrar essa foto para o namorado dela quando ela crescer e que ela vai ter que colocar essa foto no video do casamento dela.

Fun at the Mall

Emma had a blast playing at the mall. It was fun to watch her having fun and playing like a big girl. While she played James and I just talked of how big she is and all the many blessings of happiness she has brought to our family. We both realized then that our baby is now a little girl and we got a little bit sad! She has grown so fast, to fast!

A Emma se divertiu muito brincando com os brinquedos no shopping. Foi bom ve-la se divertindo e brincando como uma menininha. Enquanto ela brincava eu e o James conversamos de como a Emma esta gande e das muitas bencaos de felicidades ela trousse para nossa familia. Finalmente ali "caiu nossa ficha" que nossa bebezinha e agora uma meninha e ficamos um pouco triste! Ela cresceu muito rapido, rapido de mais!
